Lancôme x Proenza Schouler launch the Chroma Collection
The brands unite to create a fashion-forward cosmetics collection of multifunctional and highly pigmented limited edition essentials
Perfectly timed for the glorious summer weather, Lancôme’s collaboration with fashion house Proenza Schouler introduces a limited edition collection of cosmetics encased in funky packaging in vivid shades of orange, fuchsia and electric blue. The collection will launch exclusively at John Lewis stores and its website on August 1.
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the co-founders and designers behind Proenza Schouler, describe the make-up they have created with the French beauty brand as strong, graphic and ultra-pigmented. “We were inspired by painters like Ellsworth Kelly and Carmen Herrera. We like the distinctive and hard-edged approach to colour and shape,” they state.
The collection features two Chroma eye palettes (£50 each), offering 10 shades of creamy eyeshadows that can be blended or worn alone. The colours are bold and dramatic, with a selection of statement eyeshadows in black, grey, brown and petrol blue that are enhanced by the Ombre Hypnôse Kajal Chroma eyeliner (£20), while the Monsieur Big mascara (£21) in burgundy – a product that Lancôme says will up-lash volume up to 12 times – will frame eyes flatteringly.
There is also the Cushion Highlighter Chroma (£30) that lends a glow to cheekbones, while Proenza Schouler has reimagined Lancôme’s blockbuster lipstick range, L’Absolu Rouge, in bold Minimal Red and Graphic Orange, plus two sheer shades in Abstract Burgundy and Pure Nude (£25.50 each). The lip collection also makes a welcome return to the multifunctional products of the ’90s and its Kajal Duo Chroma (£25.50) offers a lip pencil and matte lipstick at one end of the liner and stain gloss at the other in shades of Pure Brown, Orange Arty, Pink Chroma and Bold Red.
