Bobbi Brown and Lulu Guinness give the Smart Works charity a beautiful boost
A limited edition make-up bag supports the UK enterprise in its work empowering women with career training
What launched in 1991 as a range of 10 shades of lipstick became a veritable dynamo of a brand, and for some years now, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has been giving back globally through its Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls. This spring, the initiative has teamed up with accessories designer Lulu Guinness to create a limited edition make-up bag (£35), released on March 8 – International Women’s Day – in aid of the UK’s Smart Works charity.
The bag’s design features Lulu Guinness’ signature lips motif and contains two Bobbi Brown bestsellers: Smokey Eye Mascara and an Art Stick (in Bare). The full price (minus VAT) will be donated to the philanthropic Smart Works, an enterprise that seeks to empower women through career-training programmes.
The charity, which now has the Duchess of Sussex as patron, promotes confidence by providing women with crucial knowledge, skills and experience. The £250,000 raised by Pretty Powerful in recent years has enabled Smart Works to open an additional six centres across the UK.
In 2017 the organisation saw 3,090 clients, and 60 per cent of the women they prepared for interviews were successful in getting the position. Over the past six years, it has helped 11,000 women and delivered 15,000 appointments. Powerful stuff.
