A gourmet dinner at Marylebone’s carnival of cuisine
Take your seat at “London’s biggest dinner party” as the Marylebone Food Festival hits town
Marylebone has emerged as a bustling foodie destination over the past 20 years – and its status cemented in 2018 with the launch of the Marylebone Food Festival. The event returns this year, from April 24 to 28, with a feast of masterclasses, one-off collaborations, food tours, talks and The Marylebone Menu – a dinner party for 120 guests on April 24, hosted by the area’s top restaurants at St Mary’s Church in York Street.
The menu for the seven-course dinner (priced £75 per person, including wine pairings) has yet to be confirmed, but the evening will begin with a G&T from Marylebone Gin, followed by canapés of aloo chat and Nariyali scallops from the Michelin-starred restaurant Trishna, and oysters from Chiltern Firehouse. Peter Gordon, one of the founding fathers of fusion cooking and often credited with kickstarting the Marylebone food scene with his restaurant Providores, will serve the starter. The Michelin-starred Texture Restaurant will then treat guests to its signature Icelandic gravlax, mustard, sorrel and rye bread. Xier will conjure the meat course, and dessert will be served by Roux at the Landau. The evening will come to a crescendo with cheeses from La Fromagerie and Rococo chocolates.
The participating chefs will be on hand to greet guests at the event and all profits from the dinner (and indeed the festival itself) will be donated to the Springboard charity.
