New York’s Contra restaurant pops-up at The Conduit

Contra’s chef-proprietors Jeremiah Stone and Fabián von Hauske Valtierra are hitting London for a two-day residency at the private members’ club – which is being opened to non-members for the occasion.

Hip restaurant Contra is bringing New York fare to Mayfair this month, as its award-winning chefs take up residency at The Conduit for a two-day culinary pop-up on September 29 and 30. In honour of the occasion, the private members’ club is allocating a limited number of spaces to non-members for both the five-course lunch (£60 per person) and the six-course dinner (£85 per person).

Contra’s chef-proprietors Jeremiah Stone and Fabián von Hauske Valtierra have designed and prepared the tasting menus, which are yet to be finalised, but will offer a flavour of their New York haunt, described by the Michelin guide as “a classic downtown spot that draws trendy millennials from afar”. Indeed, the establishment has one Michelin star under its belt, and Stone and von Hauske Valtierra were named GQ’s Chefs of the Year in 2018.

The duo have earned their culinary stripes – Stone worked at Rino in Paris, while Mexico City-born von Hauske Valtierra previously worked at Noma and Jean-Georges restaurants.
