What a carve up: a Titans of Meat feast at Launceston Place

Feast on a one-off six-course dinner created by six star chefs and artisanal butchers The Ginger Pig

With Veganuary a dim and distant memory, Kensington restaurant Launceston Place will be celebrating National Butchers’ Week with a one-off, meaty six-course feast cooked by six star chefs – entitled The Titans of Meat – on March 14.

Head chef Ben Murphy will be joined in his kitchen by Margot Henderson from Rochelle Canteen, Jackson Boxer of Brunswick House and The Chess Club, Anna Hansen of Modern Pantry, Oklava’s Selin Kiazim and Mirek Dawid from Blacklock, with each serving dishes created from unusual cuts of rare breed meats, such as pig’s cheeks and lamb’s neck-end chops, supplied by The Ginger Pig’s soon-to-launch (March 5) Chop Shop online shop with home-delivery service.

“With National Butchers’ Week on the horizon I thought it was time to shine the spotlight back on British meat,” says Murphy, a protégé of Pierre Koffmann who formerly led the charge to success at The Woodford and has worked at both the three-Michelin-star Les Prés d’Eugénie in the south of France and Epicure restaurant at Le Bristol hotel in Paris. “I’m delighted to welcome a group of chefs I admire and who share my respect for provenance and ingredients, as well as the fantastic Ginger Pig, which has helped forge Britain’s sustainable-farming movement.”
