Members’ workspace Mortimer House opens

The latest remote office brings hospitality cool and wellness focus to the daily grind

Opening on Monday November 13 in a luxurious six-storey, art deco development in Fitzrovia, members’ club Mortimer House is styled as “a work and wellbeing destination” – and aims to address the balance of working remotely while looking after mind and body. “The more technology enables us to work from alternative places such as home, or a coffee shop, the more we lack a sense of community, personal encounters, interactions and a general feeling of belonging,” explains founder Guy Ivesha.

There are offices for those working in teams or individually

The first four floors consist of offices for members working in teams, bureaus for those working alone, and meeting rooms. Membership has six levels, from £100 to £5,600 per month, and to emphasise its difference from an office leasing company, Ivesha, a former hotelier, compares the club to a “hotel for work”.

“Everything we do is hospitality focused,” he says. “We have replaced bedrooms with beautiful private work studies and kept all the other essential amenities one can expect to see in a lifestyle hotel.”

Mortimer House will also have a specially curated cultural programme for members, focusing on professional growth, mindfulness, health and confidence, and work wellbeing and creativity – with the likes of Marguerite, Women Who, and MagCulture. Physical wellbeing is brought centre stage too, with a gym, meditation room, plus yoga, Pilates and TRX classes.

The social aspect of the club is also well catered for; members can sip an early evening sharpener on the balcony in a hammock or hold events on the fifth and top level. On the ground floor, Mortimer House Kitchen is open to non-members, while its private dining room serves an all-day Mediterranean-based menu.

The issue may be the temptation to spend more time at the office.
