Women-only yoga at Coq d’Argent
A chic Sweat Lodge sets up shop on the restaurant’s roof terrace
Come the weekend, those most promising of New Year’s intentions could do an about turn. Friday night with a Perrier and a slice of lemon may just segue into a Saturday lie-in with a cappuccino and croissant followed by a long, lazy lunch – with wine. But those keen not to break their resolve can make a trip to London’s Coq d’Argent – and swap a Bloody Mary-fuelled blowout brunch for a yoga class. Every Saturday at 10am from January 10 to March 28 the restaurant will hold a Sweat Lodge women-only Vinyasa yoga class (£15 members, £25 non-members) on its chalet-style covered roof terrace: the Lodge d’Argent.
Classes are organised by Serene Social, a membership-based international wellness, philanthropy and networking community founded by women for women. The aim of the group, according to CEO and co-founder Millana Snow, is “to bring women together by inspiring them to live passionate, purposeful and healthy lives online and off”.
Yoga certainly fits the bill, but don’t expect an easy ride; these classes are physically challenging and carefully crafted to warm and uplift the mind and body during the colder months. Following the class, guests are encouraged to stay and socialise over an après-yoga breakfast provided by the Coq d’Argent kitchen. “This is what Serene Social is all about,” says Snow. “We aim to have women helping and empowering other women in the city and around the world.”
