There’s a French flavour to the culinary experiences created for 2019. On June 21, Skye Gyngell, chef-founder of Spring restaurant at Somerset House and culinary director of Heckfield Place, who mastered her craft in France, will host the first of the black-tie feasts with her seasonal fare. She will be followed on July 20 by Raymond Blanc, chef patron of the Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire, who will showcase his world-famous French cuisine in a five-course menu inspired by summer produce. Next to board will be Michel Roux Jr, chef patron of Mayfair’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Gavroche for over 25 years, who will host diners on September 20.

The Conduit’s Merlin Labron-Johnson – who gained a Michelin star at Portland only nine months after opening the restaurant, aged just 24 – will take to the rails on October 25, combining classic French techniques with modern British cuisine. Labron-Johnson, who is passionate about provenance, will challenge himself to create a dinner with zero waste at the event.

The menus, which range from five to seven courses, will be revealed on the train as the chefs mingle with guests. The dinners will be served with matching wines by liveried waiters – all adding to the refined ambience as the carriages depart from Victoria Station at 6.30pm.
