Cliveden’s gilded French Dining Room
Guests joining Widdecombe for the first lunch can expect a champagne reception, before taking their seats in Cliveden’s gilded French Dining Room, installed by Astor’s husband, who had the ornate panelling and furniture transported from the house of Madame de Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV, in Paris. Here, they will enjoy a starter of English burrata with pickled onion, Jersey Royals, broad beans and mint, followed by roasted stone bass and a warm salad of heirloom tomatoes, piquilo peppers and aubergine caviar.
