Tom Kerridge brings a glorious gourmet dimension to Goodwood
The celebrated chef hosts a culinary experience to complement the racing action
The Qatar Goodwood Festival is offering visitors a new culinary adventure this year, as the celebrated chef Tom Kerridge, who made his name with Marlow’s The Hand and Flowers (the only pub in the UK with two Michelin stars), hosts gourmet experience days (July 30-August 3; £795 per person) for race-goers.
While the jockeys weigh in, guests will be welcomed at Goodwood House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond and Gordon, with champagne and canapés, before being treated to a tantalising two-course field-to-fork lunch created by Kerridge and served in the ballroom.
Canapés will include a Cornish crab doughnut with caviar and pickled cucumber and borage flowers; The Hand and Flowers duck-liver parfait with fig ketchup; and Seville orange salt and smoked Cheddar gougères. For the main event, guests can look forward to treacle-cured fillet of beef with smoked brisket-stuffed courgette flower and green-olive dressing, followed by a high-summer dessert of raspberry and lemon curd choux bun with fresh mint, raspberry jelly and Chantilly cream.
After lunch, there will be a private transfer to the racecourse’s Secret Garden, a restaurant with views of the finish line – and guests will also have access to the premier Richmond Enclosure. A personal tipster will be on hand for the races, and as the day approaches its own finish line, a champagne afternoon tea will be hosted by Kerridge in the Secret Garden.
