Dine in the sky 100ft above London
Book a daredevil al fresco feast and savour menus devised by three leading chefs
London in the Sky, the hair-raising restaurant hanging from a crane 100ft above the city returns to the Southbank, from July 5 to 15. For the first time in the UK, three tables will be suspended simultaneously side-by-side – allowing 22 diners to enjoy breakfast (£50), lunch (£125), afternoon tea (£75), dinner (£150-£250) and cocktails (£75), prepared by a team standing at the centre of the table.
Three of London’s high-flying chefs – Pascal Aussignac of Michelin-starred Club Gascon; Robin Gill, co-founder of The Diary, Counter Culture and Sorella; and Lee Westcott of Typing Room – have each devised a three-course lunch and four-course dinner menu for one of the tables. On July 6 and 13, the chefs will cook and host dinner in person (£250, including champagne reception, wine in the sky and after-dinner drinks on the ground). Aussignac’s table will serve dishes such as Gascony pie, made with chicken ballotine and lobster with a bisque sauce; Gill’s menu features one-year lamb merguez with aubergine, miso and artichoke; while Westcott’s dishes include sea trout with heritage tomatoes, gooseberry and green almond. Vegetarian options are available on each table.
Diners must arrive 30 minutes before take-off to be securely fastened into safety harnesses before each Sky Table is winched 100ft up by mobile cranes. Flights will run daily from 8.30am to 10.30pm.
