Angela Hartnett hosts a one-off pasta feast at Fortnum & Mason
The October 5 dinner marks the start of a longer collaboration between the chef and store
Foodie eyes are about to focus on Fortnum & Mason, as Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett launches a pasta collaboration with the historic department store that will kick off with a special four-course feast on Thursday October 5.
The sharing-style dinner (£75) in The Gallery restaurant will begin with canapés of salami, arancini and salt cod fritters, followed by a double-header starter of pumpkin and amaretti tortellini, served with sage butter, and rigatoni with wild mushroom ragout. For the main, the Café Murano chef will cook a braised beef polenta (paired, like every course, with an Italian wine from Fortnum’s revered cellar), before closing with walnut cake accompanied by mascarpone cream.
Until October 7, Hartnett will also be taking up residency at a pop-up on the store’s lower-ground floor, where small plates of pasta will be prepared. The tagliatelle, linguine and gnocchi and filled parcels (all from £1.65 for 100g) used there will also be on sale at Fortnum (the first time Hartnett’s pasta has been made available outside the two branches of Café Murano or her Pastificio shop), with accompanying sauces of tomato, pesto, sausage and fennel, and puttanesca.
Fresh batches of pasta will be made on a daily basis, so there should be enough to sate the appetite of even the most ardent gastronome.
