Outdoor cinema new-year cheer at The Berkeley
A rooftop cabin for two and a rousing rom-com to lift the spirits
As an antidote to the post-Christmas blues, The Berkeley hotel’s private rooftop cinema is screening two feelgood films to rouse the spirits.
The exclusive cinema has just eight seats and is set within a secret sky-high garden with views of Knightsbridge and Belgravia. Those fortunate enough to secure a ticket (£70) can choose to watch the rom-com When Harry Met Sally, or the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, with screenings on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 5.15pm and 7.30pm between January 4 and February 10.
The cinema seats are housed in four cosy log cabins that nestle on the garden terrace. Each cabin provides seating for two people, with Moncler fur wraps, hot-water bottles and heated lamps.
Warming mini shepherd’s pies will be served during the film, along with hot chocolate and mulled wine. A hearty feast is also available to order before the movie starts via the à la carte menu, which includes lobster salad in a brioche bun (£25), Angus beef sliders (£22), venison sausage rolls (£18), soft buns filled with a choice of beef, pork or falafel, and a variety of drinks from champagne to mulled wine.
For the week of Valentine’s Day, those planning to make the ultimate romantic gesture can hire the entire terrace and just one intimate log cabin (£295 per couple). A bottle of Laurent-Perrier rosé champagne will be served, unlimited mulled wine and a selection of luxury winter canapés and chocolates. On this occasion, the couple can choose their own special film – how about The Proposal?
