Martínez and Adrià join forces for a one-off dinner
A mouthwatering fusion of Peruvian and Spanish culinary royalty
A match made in culinary heaven will take place at Lima Floral in Covent Garden on August 7 when Virgilio Martínez, one of Peru’s most acclaimed chefs, and Albert Adrià, who holds a similar position as Spanish food royalty, join forces for a one-off dinner (£120, plus £50 for wine pairing).
Working with Jorge Muñoz, co-head chef at Adrià’s Barcelona restaurant Pakta, specialising in Nikkei – Japanese-Peruvian fusion – cuisine, as well as Lima Floral’s head chef Robert Ortiz, Martínez and Adrià will use predominantly Peruvian ingredients for a sumptuous dinner.
The tasting menu, which has yet to be announced, will combine Martínez’s enthusiasm for sourcing ancient Peruvian edibles (that predate even the Incas) with Adrià’s pioneering molecular gastronomy at Spain’s elBulli restaurant.
Since the closure of that critically acclaimed restaurant, Adrià has opened five restaurants in Barcelona, picking up Michelin stars along the way. As for Martínez, his Central restaurant in Peru is ranked number four in San Pellegrino’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
For one night only, Peru and Spain will come to Covent Garden in delicious culinary style – an evening to savour.
