The best 2016 detox menus in London
Kickstart healthy-eating resolutions in style
New Year, new resolutions – but the January detox does not mean having to compromise on taste if you know the best cafés and restaurants in London to kickstart a healthy-eating regime and stay on the pure food wagon.
1) The Detox Kitchen flagship opens on Monday January 4 in the new One Fitzroy development in Fitzrovia. With food free from wheat, dairy and refined sugar, the menu tempts with delights such as quinoa risotto with edamame, spring onion and coriander, or king prawn with quinoa, courgette and basil pesto. Owner Lily Simpson’s signature beetroot brownies are also worth making room for.
Fitzroy Place, 10 Mortimer Street, London W1 (020-7498 6417;www.detoxkitchen.co.uk).
2) Super-trainer of supermodels James Duigan has just opened the Bodyism Clean and Lean café at his new gym on Westbourne Grove. Food is as locally sourced as possible and 90 per cent organic; start the day with a Clean and Lean Bowl with eggs, quinoa, roasted squash, roasted Brussels sprouts, kale, spinach and pesto – the perfect reward post-workout.
222 Westbourne Grove, London W11 (www.bodyism.com).
3) Andina in Shoreditch has joined forces with personal trainer Harry Jameson to present the Replenish menu, a new selection of Peruvian dishes that have been curated to nourish the body pre- or post-workout and help with that New Year health drive. Served from Tuesday January 5 to Thursday March 31, the dinner menu includes ceviche de palmitos, a mix of palm hearts, quinoa and avocado, as well as hearty street-food-inspired dishes, including pepián – panca-chilli-marinated chicken with quinoa, carob, antioxidant-filled pecans and coriander sauce – and the new sudado de pescado – a spicy fish broth with tomato, seaweed and cassava root – chosen for high protein levels and vitamin B.
1 Redchurch Street, London E2 (020-7920 6499; www.andinalondon.com).
4) From Monday January 4, the four branches of Tom’s Kitchen will be serving healthy salads that change on a weekly basis. Avocado and grapefruit with toasted sunflower seeds, quinoa and grapefruit dressing will kick off this salad-fest. Juices will include the Cleanse – with bromelain to boost digestion, plus pear, carrot and spinach.

Diners can fire up their dishes with a range of chilli sauces designed to ratchet up the metabolism. Perfect for the weekend – when resolutions might have their first wobble.
