The Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone

Interiors by Russell Sage are crammed with furniture and objets amassed during the wicked uncle’s grand tour of Europe that reflect his “eclectic and colourful character”. Of the seven styles of room (with 21 bedrooms and two studio suites, from £258), the rooftop apartment is the pièce de résistance, occupying the entire top floor and replete with private staircase, dressing room and a roof terrace featuring an outdoor roll-top bath. One can imagine that this is the only style in which Seymour bathes.

On the ground floor, the drawing-room-inspired Seymour’s Parlour is open from breakfast until late in the evening, with menus by the Zetter Group’s Bruno Loubet, who is also at the culinary helm of Grain Store in King’s Cross, as well as the original Zetter and the Zetter Townhouse, Clerkenwell. Menus are for snacking rather than dining. WUS would surely have heartily approved of sharing platters of potted mackerel – although one can only speculate whether the healthy supper bowls would have had such appeal.  

Cocktails, curated by 69 Colebrooke Row and Bar Termini’s Tony Conigliaro, are being created around a new champagne liqueur called Seymour’s Parlour, inspired by the idea of WUS’s appointment with a duke or duchess – for thoroughly louche reasons, one would hope, given Seymour’s wicked appeal.
