Regent Street’s Easter Cocktail Hunt

An alternative chocolate hit for a refined crowd

With Easter on the horizon, those who are in search of a more sophisticated alternative to the traditional stomp around the garden hunt will be deliciously rewarded by a trip to the bars and restaurants around London’s Regent Street, which are holding an Easter Cocktail Hunt, running until Sunday April 12.

As an alternative to buying chocolate eggs, Hotel Café Royal, Gordon Ramsay’s Heddon Street Kitchen, Brasserie Zédel, Momo, Mash and Frescobaldi have designed their own cacao-centric cocktails.

Highlights include the White Russian with a Chocolate Twist (£9.75, second picture) at the Bar Americain at Brasserie Zédel, a sweet medley of cognac, Kahlúa coffee liqueur with a double cream float and chocolate shavings. Hotel Café Royal has created a Cadbury’s Creme Egg martini (£10, first picture) – recreating the classic Easter treat with a kick using Pampero Especial rum, amaretto, chocolate liqueur, cream and an egg yolk. The Tiramisu Flip (£10) chez Ristorante Frescobaldi contains a shot of espresso to energise those who may be flagging, mixed with cognac, amaretto, an egg, cream and chocolate bitters. The Mad Hatter (£11) at Mash is a less sweet, although hardly savoury, alternative made of Bulleit bourbon, tea, peach, maraschino, hibiscus, vanilla and ginger – with no chocolate in sight.

Some of the cocktails also come with an Easter egg – in case guests’ blood-sugar levels are not yet high enough. Enjoy!
